BANGOR — Husson College received $100,000 from John E. Kilgore Jr., a retired oil executive and venture capitalist who lives in Surry. The money will be used for a music program.
“It was a wonderful gift,” said Husson College President William Beardsley after receiving the money. “Our purpose is to attract accomplished classical pianists to the college to perform in our recently renovated Kominsky Auditorium for the benefit of members of the Husson community and of the Greater Bangor community.
“Currently we are taking preliminary steps to identify nationally recognized artists,” said Julie Green, director of public affairs at Husson. “Our goal is to have one or two recitals in 2000 and then move toward four or more recitals each year. Our recitals will focus on the works of the classical composers.”
The concert series will be overseen by a board of concert trustees.
