Wing, Witches upend Hampden

HAMPDEN – Allison Wing scored a game-high 20 points to lead Brewer to a 51-47 schoolgirl basketball win over Hampden Academy Tuesday.

Liz Boone contributed 13 points, while Katrina Peterson netted nine and ripped down 10 rebounds for the Witches.

Megan Magoon totaled 16 points to pace Hampden and Brianna Bragg compiled 10.

At Sherman Station, Brandon McCarthy netted 28 points, ripped down 12 rebounds, and dished seven assists to lead Katahdin over Penobscot Valley.

Tim Perry added 13 points, while Ryan Robinson poured in 11 for the Cougars.

At John Millar Arena in Houlton, Jake Hedstrom scored a goal and assisted on six others to lead the Red Riots past the Blackhawks.

Derek Williams added two goals and two assists for 3-0 Orono while Eric Gordon scored two goals. Pat Skall, Scott Zadakis and Mike Merritt tallied a goal each. Goalie Casey Hale stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced.

David Carmichael scored an unassisted goal for 1-5 Houlton-Hodgdon. Ryan Blanchette made 28 saves on 36 shots.

Maranacook 6, Presque Isle 2

At the Northern Maine Forum in Presque Isle, Ian Harger scored two goals and assisted on a third to spark the Black Bears to victory.

Tim Colony scored two goals for Maranacook of Readfield, while Mario Villani added one goal and one assist. Ben Jones scored the other goal to back the goaltending of Matt Zeh.

Chris Louton scored unassisted for Presque Isle and Tom Gregg tallied off a Luke Fitzpatrick assist. Joey Grenier was the goalie.
