Year’s last meeting for Brewer

BREWER — During their special meeting Tuesday, members of the City Council will handle a series of municipal housekeeping items before heading into executive session for City Manager Stephen Bost’s evaluation.

The meeting, the council’s last for this year, begins at 4 p.m. at City Hall.

Among the matters the councilors are expected to address is a public hearing on Green Point Auto Parts Inc.’s application to amend its auto recycling permit. The permit now applies to 206 Green Point Road. The company wants to expand its permit to include the property at 221 Green Point Road. A decision is expected to be made later in the meeting.

Also on the agenda is Albert Gibson’s resignation as an associate member of the planning board. Gibson is slated to be appointed a regular member of that board, while Joseph Hayes is slated to be reappointed to the panel.

In other business, the council will consider authorizing payment for temporary paving on State Street in connection with the sewer project on Hardy Street, and will resume work on a series of ordinance amendments. The amendments involve topics ranging from the fee schedule for dealers in secondhand articles and the assignment of property numbers in the city to the interest rate for late sewer bill payments to demolition debris disposal fees.

The council also will recognize WABI Radio, a Bangor-based AM station, for 75 years of continuous service, and commend Michael Martin, the city’s recreation supervisor, for coordinating Brewer’s municipal United Way fund-raising campaign.
