Rabid skunk found dead in Carmel; clinic slated

CARMEL — A dead skunk found on the Hinckley Hill Road last week has tested positive for rabies, according to Carmel’s animal control officer.

Steven Cyr said the skunk was discovered Nov. 24 by a resident whose cat was wandering near the carcass. The cat, which had been vaccinated, has been quarantined for 45 days and received a rabies booster shot.

A rabies clinic will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carmel Fire Station. For further information, call Cyr at 823-2776.
