Proposed uses of bond request

Following is the breakdown on where the technical college system intends to spend the $26.42 million proceeds of its bond request.

Central Maine Technical College, Auburn, $3.25 million: Most of the money will be used for a new Technical Learning Center with computerized library facilities, a computer graphics lab and classrooms.

Eastern Maine Technical College, Bangor, $4.37 million: The money will be used to renovate and expand two existing buildings to hold an early childhood education training center, a child care facility, centralized student services, a modernized library, and improved labs and classrooms.

Kennebec Valley Technical College, Fairfield, $3.4 million: The funds will be used to make space for a new library and information-technology center with computerized research stations, upgraded classrooms and labs, as well as repairs to the heating and cooling systems.

Northern Maine Technical College, Presque Isle, $3 million: the majority of funds will go to modernize the library and add a new multimedia learning center with connections to computer networks.

Southern Maine Technical College, South Portland, $5 million: The money will go for new classrooms and labs.

Washington County Technical College, Calais, $3.1 million: Most of the funds will be used to expand the school’s main building to added classrooms and labs for high-demand programs. Money will also be used to modernize the school’s library.

York County Technical College, Wells, $4.3 million: The money will be used to build new multimedia classrooms and labs, in particular to provide space for new programs. The funding will also go for a cafeteria, child care center and faculty offices.
