BANGOR — More than 5,400 patrons attended the sixth Maine Shakespeare Festival this summer, according to a Penobscot Theater Company press release.
“Running shows in two spaces this year, the festival took a quantum leap forward, providing a wide variey of arts from Shakespeare to slapstick,” said Mark Torres, the festival director.
Productions included a humorous three-man rendition of all 37 Shakespeare works, a pre-show puppet theater and a variety of famous and lesser-known plays.
“The [festival] is possible thanks to the many community volunteers and individual and corporate contributors who have supported Shakespeare in Bangor since our first year in 1994,” said Torres.
