Arrest curtails reunion for Rockland High alum

ST. GEORGE — A North Carolina man was arrested Saturday on an outstanding warrant for child support while at his 15-year high school class reunion at Echo Hill.

Dale Dare, 33, of Capitol Hill, N.C., was wanted for failure to pay child support in Maine, according to Knox County Sheriff’s Lt. Reginald Walker Monday.

An anonymous caller reported that Dare was at the Class of 1984 reunion for Rockland District High School alumni, Walker said.

Deputy Michael Pierre, assisted by Maine State Police Trooper Greg Vrooman, went to Echo Hill and arrested Dare at about 7:15 p.m. Dare was still being held at Knox County Jail Monday afternoon on $6,731.94 bail, according to a corrections officer. That is the amount owed in child support, according to a court clerk.

Dare is scheduled to appear in Maine District Court in Rockland on Wednesday.
