MACHIAS — Chris Wink, recent valedictorian of Machias Memorial High School, has designed and built a World Wide Web page for Down East Community Hospital as an independent study project during his senior year.

The page, found on the Internet at www.dech.org, includes a description of hospital services, the function of departments, answers to frequently asked billing questions, a section on legal compliance, a directory of active physicians, a history of the hospital and a link to other local organizations.

Wink worked 80 to 100 hours from December to May to build the Web site by taking photos and talking with staff, then building the site.

Wink plans on attending Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., where he will major in computer science.
