Our Gouldsboro School Board beats all other boards in vacillating on one particular issue: being able to set a reasonable and fair school bus route in the village of Corea, Paul Bunyan Road, Peninsula Road and Grand Marsh Bay Road. Since February the vacillation has been so great that about every month the route has been changed — roads dropped, roads added, directions changed, and then roads dropped again and further direction changes.
The most current change (May 11) is the most unbelievable one. The board has added miles to the route and has increased wear and tear on the bus by havingh it pass over and back again across the Grand Marsh Bay Road (all dirt) and the Peninsula Road (about half the length is dirt). Since Gouldsobor has a noontime kindergarten run, this makes six times across these dirt roads in a single day. School budgets are highenough without adding this avoidable cost. Karen Jo Young Corea
