NEWPORT — James Brann, incumbent selectman in Newport, was re-elected to a three-year term Friday.
Brann tallied 187 votes, soundly defeated three opponents: Alberta Denham with 9, Douglas Franklin with 35, and Kenneth Fredette with 60.
Two new members were elected without opposition to the SAD 48 board of directors. They are Evelyn Hickey with 225 votes, and Richard Jacques with 190.
Jerry Durgin and Halvor Magnus were re-elected as trustees of the Newport Sanitary District without opposition. Durgin received 239 votes and Magnus had 205.
Paul Leonard tallied 259 votes for re-election as trustee of the Newport Water District.
Five people were elected to the town budget committee: Phil Brown, Ray Tardy, Frank Harding, Sr., Donna Tasker and Victor Buckland.
A one-year and a two-year term on the budget committee will remain vacant.
