Outlook: Maine wants a strong performance heading into a two-week layoff. Coach Joanne Palombo-McCallie looks for new starters Stone, Lopez, and Tinklova to provide consistent intensity. Atlantic 10 member Rhode Island is improved, but has only four upperclassmen. The Rams go eight deep, as do the Bears. The Cassidy-Jansen matchup in the post could be a key. Maine’s new lineup means Andrea Clark and Kelly Bowman will provide experience off the bench. URI has won two of its last three, including Wednesday’s win over Harvard.
