Bikers sentenced for raping Maine woman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Two bikers from Jacksonville will serve 30-year prison sentences for raping a Maine woman during Bike Week in 1996.

A jury found Richard Greene, 27, guilty on Aug. 20 of sexual battery by multiple perpetrators, being a principal to sexual battery and false imprisonment.

On Aug. 28, another jury found Mone Kitana Cuevas, 30, guilty of sexual battery with threat of force, principal to sexual battery and false imprisonment.

Circuit Judge William C. Johnson Jr. sentenced both men Wednesday.

The victim, a Bike Week visitor from Maine, testified Greene and Cuevas raped and sodomized her in a tent in a Holly Hill back yard March 7, 1996.

Greene admitted to Holly Hill police he raped the woman and implicated Cuevas, who the woman said sodomized her.

Assistant State Attorney Ben Fox said Greene’s statement proved the most important link in the case against the two.

“Greene’s confession mirrored the victim’s statement” to police, Fox said.
