Blanchard helps Wildcats cruise

NEWPORT – Brianna Blanchard scored a goal and assist to power the Presque Isle Wildcats to a 5-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Nokomis Warriors Friday.

Amanda Belden, Kris Dufour, Katie Peers and Angela Michaud scored goals for 6-1-1 Presque Isle, with Sarah Belden tallying an assist. Jen Hallett made five saves on six shots.

Katie Page had an unassisted goal for 1-4 Nokomis. Tonya Cray had 15 saves on 20 shots.

Hodgdon 3, Washburn 0

At Washburn, Carrie Edwards scored three times off Jessica London assists to power Hodgdon.

Danielle Fitzpatrick stopped 14 of 17 shots for the Hawks.

Amy Allen turned away 13 of 17 for 6-8 Washburn.

Bangor Christian 6, Woodland 0

At Bangor, Heather Niles scored three goals to pace the Patriots.

Laura Johnson added a pair of scores and an assist, Heidi Niles had a goal and an assist, and Jessica Ottinger had an assist. Goalkeeper Lee-Ann Trottier made one save on one shot for 2-2 Bangor Christian.

Jen Boston was busy in the 2-2 Dragons’ net, making 21 saves on 40 shots.

Ashland 7, Central Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Heidi Maker and Sarah Dwyer each scored three goals to lead the Hornets past Central Aroostook.

Amanda Martin scored the other goal and had two assists, and Maker also made two assists. Andrea Millett had one assist. Goalkeeper Kim Oakes made eight saves on eight shots for 2-5 Ashland.

For the 4-8 Panthers, Melissa Robinson and Darcy Walsh combined to make eight saves on 15 shots.

Boys soccer

Presque Isle 5, Nokomis 2

At Newport, Kevin Mahoney led five different Presque Isle scorers with a goal and assist to lead the Wildcats past the Warriors.

Nick Nadeau, Chris Lynch, Andrew Goumas and John Constant all had goals for Presque Isle. Ryan Duff tallied an assist. Jeff Yaeger made seven saves on 11 shots.

Dave Richard and Trenton Estes notched goals for Nokomis. Richie Otis and Tyler Peters combined for nine saves on 16 shots.

Madawaska 6, Hodgdon 1

At Hodgdon, Andrew Clavette notched three goals and an assist, leading a five-goal second-half Owls outburst.

Ben Marshall had a goal and assist for 9-0-1 Madawaska. B.J. Dufor and Luc Roy also had goals, as Andy Michaud made seven saves on 15 shots.

Elon Jepson scored 7-2-2 Hodgdon’s lone goal. Matt Allen made 20 saves on 30 shots.

Calais 1, Lubec 1 (2OT)

At Lubec, Ryan Fox converted a Toby Mahar assist and Kris Fergerson scored unassisted as the Blue Devils and Hornets settled for a tie.

John Morris stopped 15 of 18 for 1-4 Lubec. Adam Johnson blocked 12 of 14 for 0-5 Calais.

Machias 1, Shead 0 (1OT)

At Perry, Seth Kilton headed in a corner kick from Will Hasselman with 4:14 left in the first overtime to give the Bulldogs the win.

Goalie Kevin Loughlin stopped five of 10 shots for 3-2 Machias.

Cliff Urquhart stopped five of nine shots for 2-2 Shead.

East Grand 2, Averill 0

At Danforth, Joe Davis and Jordan Shain both scored second-half goals to lead the Vikings past the Beavers of Hinckley.

Andrew Faulkner stopped all seven shots he faced for 1-1-1 East Grand.

Jeremy J. and Ramon C. made five saves on eight shots for 0-3 Averill.

Ashland 20, CAHS 0

At Mars Hill, Lee Bennett scored six goals to lead a 54-shot attack against Central Aroostook.

Darren Belskis and Charles Robinson each had four goals for 5-2 Ashland. Rustin Lovell scored three. Belskis registered four assists, while Bennett had four. Allen Hitchcock made five saves on 13 shots.

Arlie Wiggins had 11 saves for 1-11 CAHS.

Islesboro 5, Liberty 0

At Islesboro, Derek Johnson, Jon Bolduc, Elek Miller, Dan Tutor and Ben Roberts each scored a goal as the Eagles cruised.

Tracey Wuori, Ben Dove and Andrew Leach each had an assist while Steve Shand and Tiger Bell didn’t have to make a save against two shots for 3-1 Islesboro.

Arrian Myrick saved 10 of 19 shots for 0-2 Liberty of Blue Hill.

Searsport 4, Bucksport 2

At Bucksport, Rodney Damon scored on Aaron Ward’s second assist to give the Vikings the lead for good.

Joey Light tallied a goal and assist for Searsport. Rusty Grone and Tucker Merchner also scored. Nate Hall made eight saves on 11 shots.

Pat Lalonde and Neal Bowden each had goals for Bucksport. Rico Penaranda had two assists. Tyson Grindle made 13 saves on 17 shots.

Sumner 5, Central 2

At East Sullivan, Matt Welch scored two goals and Lautaro Ricci tallied the go-ahead score for the Tigers.

Ricci also had an assist. Davey Renwick and Jeff Crowley had goals, and Anthony Martinez tallied an assist for Sumner. Ben Huber made nine saves on 15 shots.

Justin Ladd scored a goal and assisted Matt Strout for Central. James Nickerson made 13 saves on 20 shots.

George Stevens 5, John Bapst 1

At Blue Hill, goalkeeper Andrew O’Neil was tough in net and scored on a penalty kick to spark the Eagles on both ends of the field.

Mac Jackson, Troy Bannister, Zack Davies, and Chad Mattson also scored for 6-0 George Stevens, while O’Neil made eight saves on 15 shots.

Nate Susi picked up the lone goal for the Crusaders from Bangor, and Bill Chapman made seven saves on 26 shots.
