Civil Air Patrol to seek recruits at Greenville

GREENVILLE — The Civil Air Patrol will be recruiting at the annual seaplane fly-in here Sept. 10-13. There are eight squadrons in the state, with a ninth planned for Greenville. Squadrons from Augusta, Waterville and Machias will attend the fly-in.

Anyone in the sixth grade or older is eligible to join and may visit the Telford Aviation hangar Saturday evening to meet current cadets. There will be a listing at the information booth of all U.S. squadrons for those visiting from other parts of the country.

Civil Air Patrol, the official Air Force auxiliary, is a nonprofit organization that performs more than 85 percent of inland search-and-rescue missions in the continental United States. Its members also take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to America’s youth through CAP’s cadet program.
