SANFORD — A stolen pickup truck crashed into a utility pole Friday night, killing at least one person, police said.
The pickup was reported stolen about 8:15 p.m., and it crashed into the pole and burst into flames a half hour later, police said.
Police confirmed that one person was dead in the accident, but additional details were not immediately available late Friday.
About 850 people in Sanford, Lebanon, North Berwick and Shapleigh were without electricity in the area because of the damaged utility pole and downed power lines, according to Central Maine Power Co.
