Bangor — Eastern Maine Medical Center has announced a support group intended to aid women facing the travails of new motherhood.
“Support After Delivery” offers emotional support for women, giving new mothers a chance to explore outside resources for help with the challenges of life with a new baby.
The group meets in EMMC’s Grant Level Eight conference room from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 15, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21. The group also meets once a month from 7 to 8 p.m. on June 4, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 5, and Dec. 3.

Bangor — Smokers Anonymous meetings are held every Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Eastern Maine Medical Center in the Brown Conference Room. The meetings are free and open to ex-smokers and those trying to quit smoking. For information, call 862-6211.
Bangor — EMMC HealthShare will offer CPR classes on June 8 and 10 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and again June 22 and 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack victim, how to activate local emergency medical services and CPR skills. Bangor — Dance classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mason Auditorium at EMMC. The Monday classes will be for intermediate-advanced level dancers, and Wednesday classes will be for those on the beginner-intermediate level. Bangor — St. Joseph Hospital’s Live and Learn program will feature Eileen Cox of the Eastern Area Agency on Aging. She will provide an update on Medicare. The session will be held Wednesday, June 10, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the St. Francis Center, opposite the hospital’s Center Street entrance. This program is free to ST. Joseph Live and Learn members. There is a $3 fee for non members. The public is invited. St. Joseph Live and Learn is a health promotion program for adults age 50 and over.
Bangor — The next Respiratory Support Group meeting will be on Wednesday, June 3, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Main 2B Conference Room at Eastern Maine Medical Center. The speaker will be William, Sullivan, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs at EMMC. His topic will be smoking cessation. Regular attendees and family members affected by respiratory problems as well as any wishing to join the group are welcome.
