DIXMONT — A Thorndike motorist was arrested Saturday for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor after his vehicle rolled onto its side in Dixmont.
Earl Brooks, 35, was arrested for OUI and operating after suspension, according to Deputy Josh Tibbetts of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.
Tibbetts said Brooks was eastbound on Route 9 about 7 p.m. Saturday when his vehicle left the pavement and went into soft snow and later into hard snow. The vehicle spun around in the road and rolled onto its side, he said.
Brooks had two passengers with him inside the cab of his 1985 Ford Ranger and a third passenger in the truck body, according to Tibbetts. He said the male passenger in the truck body apparently was thrown from the vehicle but neither he nor the other occupants was injured. The vehicle was demolished.
The accident is still under investigation.
