STETSON — The new Stetson Library-Fire Station will be the site of an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. The building is the result of a Community Development Block Grant, in-kind donations and fund raising by the community.
The open house was rescheduled because of the ice storm earlier this month, according to Administrative Assistant Carol Laplant.
The ice storm also wreaked havoc with Stetson roads and salt supply, Laplant said. Because of the rough and deteriorating road conditions, the town asked for Maine Department of Transportation assistance in cleaning up Routes 222 and 143. Because of the ongoing icy road conditions throughout the community, the town was forced to purchase additional salt, she said.
Stetson resident Ed Logue was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the SAD 64 board of directors, Laplant reported.
She also said those who have not licensed their dogs for 1998 are considered in arrears as of the end of January and will be charged a late fee.
