Scott 3-pointer propels Sumner

EAST SULLIVAN – Sam Scott nailed a 3-pointer from the right wing at the buzzer to cap a see-saw fourth quarter and give Sumner a 44-41 schoolgirl basketball win over Dexter Friday night.

Jennifer Richardson led the Sumner scoring with 13 points, and Stacie Warren grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked two shots.

Morgan Titus, Beth McKusick, and Megan Hughes scored nine points each to power Dexter.

Gardner finished up with 16 points. Jessica Libby sealed the victory by hitting both ends of a one-and-one with 30 seconds left and ended the game with 13 points.

Crystal Graves and Melissa Gott hit back-to-back shots that tied the game at 41-41, but Orono’s defense proved too much to handle. Katy Lawson scored 12 points and Graves had 10.
