Guns retrieved in Bar Harbor> Trenton man allegedly tried to sell stolen firearms

BAR HARBOR — Police recovered two stolen guns Thursday and arrested a Trenton man in connection with the recent theft of the firearms from a Southwest Harbor residence.

Bar Harbor Police Officer Rick Graham reported Friday that Darrell W. Dolliver, 27, was stopped on Main Street in Bar Harbor and charged with receiving stolen property.

He said Dolliver had sold a .33-caliber Winchester rifle, and was in the process of selling a .357-caliber Taurus revolver to Bar Harbor resident Thomas Alley, who notified the Bar Harbor Police Department.

Graham said Dolliver earlier this week sold the Winchester rifle to Alley and gave him the Taurus handgun to determine how much he was willing to pay. He said Alley read in this week’s Bar Harbor Times police beat that similar guns recently had been reported stolen from a Seawall Trailer Park residence in Southwest Harbor.

Graham said Alley alerted Bar Harbor police, who checked with the Southwest Harbor Police Department and verified the stolen guns were the same ones Dolliver had peddled to Alley. He said Dolliver is being held at the Hancock County jail.
