Concert to benefit Maine Won’t Discriminate

Two Maine singer-songwriters will present a benefit performance for Maine Won’t Discriminate, the organization working to defeat the Feb. 10 referendum on gay rights at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Lynn Deeves, who has been said to have a “wonderfully rich, soulful” voice, released her debut CD, “Connecting the Dots” in 1996.

Jean Meike, who will perform with Brian Curry, “delivers a dynamic range of music from explosive pop ballads to good groovin’ rock and roll,” according to The Bar Harbor Times. She released her debut CD, “Dance on Fire,” in 1996. Both artists will donate a percentage of their CD sales to Maine Won’t Discriminate.

The benefit performance is being held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 120 Park St. Tickets will be sold at the door, for a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children. The Lemon Tree will provide snacks and an auction will liven up intermissions.
