AUGUSTA — The Institute for Museum and Library Services has announced an extension for museums affected by the recent storm to apply for the federally supported general operating support grants.
The new deadline is Feb. 6 for those museums located within the federal disaster area. More details will be available on IMLS’ Web site at www.imls.fed.us.
IMLS only grants extensions in times of severe natural disaster as recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
IMLS is an independent federal agency within the executive branch, established by an act of Congress in 1996 to improve museum, library and information services. Within IMLS, the Office of Museum Services was established to assist museums in modernization.
