SOUTHWEST HARBOR — An auction and cocktail party held by the Southwest Harbor-Tremont Chamber of Commerce in honor of the Stephen King-based ABC miniseries being filmed here this week raised more than $17,000 for three local nonprofit organizations.
Dubbed the “Party of the Century” for the “Storm of the Century,” the event drew more than 150 local residents and production crew members.
Guests entered bids on assorted, even quirky, memorabilia from the miniseries, including a director’s chair, fake snow and four dormers. The highest-priced item was a fake United States post office building, which went to the highest bidder, Ed Bussey, for $11,000.
Organizers Marty Hanscome, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Janet Strong, a director of the Chamber, were co-hosts of the event.
