HOULTON — Julie A. Bergan, 40, of Merrill has been promoted to sergeant in the Maine State Police and assigned a patrol supervisor in Troop F, Houlton.

Bergan joined the state police in 1988 and has patrolled in Aroostook County with Troop F. She was promoted to detective in 1996.

Bergan holds an associate degree in law enforcement from the University of Maine. She and her husband, Joseph, are the parents of Hayley, 11, and Elizabeth, 6.
