BARING — A late-night accident in Baring sent a Calais man to the hospital Tuesday and then to jail.
Jason Hays, 21, of Calais suffered lacerations to the head and neck when he lost control of the car he was driving and drove into an embankment, reported state Trooper Cliff Peterson. The accident happened around 11 p.m. on Route 1 near the road’s intersection with old Route 1, Peterson said.
Hays’ passenger, Jason Johnson, 20, of Baileyville, suffered bumps and bruises, but was not taken to the hospital.
Peterson said Hays was released from Calais Regional Hospital around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when he was arrested on a warrant and taken to Washington County Jail. Hays was charged with operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended.
