NEWBURGH — A local man who complained about a speeding snowmobile found himself in Penobscot County Jail on Monday afternoon, charged with failure to pay court fines totaling $1,465.
Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy John Skroski said that he had just finished investigating an accident in Etna when he was called to North Road in Newburgh to hear a complaint about a speeding snowmobile.
When he radioed the report to the dispatcher in Bangor, the information came back that Gerald Bartlett, 61, was wanted for failure to pay several fines and an arrest warrant had been issued against him.
Skroski said that the information was the result of a routine call back to the sheriff’s office, where the information on Bartlett was discovered.
Bartlett was being held Monday afternoon at Penobscot County Jail.
