AUGUSTA — A public hearing on proposed sea urchin legislation has been canceled because of delays caused by the recent ice storm.
The public hearing on “An Act Concerning Sea Urchin Management” had been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 22. A new date has not been set.
A new public hearing date has been scheduled for a bill that addresses lobster fishing in the waters surrounding Monhegan Island. “An Act Concerning Commercial Fishing in the Vicinity of Monhegan Island,” LD 2021, will be heard at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Cushnoc Room at the Augusta Civic Center. The bill originally was scheduled for a public hearing on Jan. 15.
Two other bills also originally scheduled for public hearing on Jan. 15 also will now be heard on Jan. 27. These bills are: “An Act to Implement a Reorganization of the Maine Sardine Council by the Maine Sardine Industry,” LD 1968, and “An Act to Correct Certain Inconsistencies in the Marine Resources Laws,” LD 2011.
