ADDISON — The Maine State Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident Monday that claimed the life of a teen-age girl.
Details of the accident were sketchy Monday evening, but according to Trooper Gavin Hager of the Maine State Police, at around 11:35 a.m. Casey Burke, 19, of Addison and his passenger, Jessie Griffin, 17, of Columbia, were southbound on the Wescogus Road in his 1987 Nissan Sentra and were about three-tenths of a mile from Route 187 when the vehicle slid on a patch of slush, crossed the road and struck a tree on the passenger side. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burke was taken by ambulance to Down East Community Hospital in Machias where he was treated for multiple injuries. He was listed in stable condition Monday evening.
