I was disturbed by the headline on Wyatt Olson’s article in the Jan. 15 edition concerning the dispute over entry of residents of the Bayview Nursing Home into the Red Cross shelter in the MBNA facility. A quick read of this headline suggests that the MBNA company denied these individuals entry into the shelter.
Headlines, as I’m sure any editor knows, set the tone for the reader of an article and biase their view. In fact, as one reads through the article it becomes clear this facility is run by the Red Cross; MBNA merely provided the space, personnel to staff it, and funds to run it.
This type of “bank bashing” is unseemly and unfair. How about giving credit to an organization that has gone well beyond the usual to help the community? Mike Stein Belfast
