People practicing homosexuality and straight people are of equal value as human beings. All human life should be treated with dignity.
However, a group of people who choose to have unnatural relations should not be grouped with people who are granted special protective status by the government. Generally speaking, the existing protected groups did not put themselves into their group because of their behavior. We do not choose our gender, our race, where we were born or whether we are disabled or not.
All Mainers are presently protected by the same constitution equally and will continue to be. Let’s leave the added protection to those groups of people who can demonstrate a true need and don’t have a choice. Vote yes on Feb. 10. Mike Marshall Monticello
