AUGUSTA — The Maine Council of Churches has rescheduled Legislative Day, previously slated to take place Thursday, Jan. 15, at the State House in Augusta, due to last week’s ice storm which has ravaged much of the state.
Legislative Day has been moved to Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the State House. The afternoon event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the wing which previously housed the old museum.
The focus of the event, titled, “There is Enough for All,” is poverty and the plight of the homeless. It will emphasize the need for just wages, appropriate and affordable health care, social services for children and the needs of the homeless.
The annual event provides an opportunity for members of Maine’s religious community to meet legislators and discuss issues with lawmakers and one another.
