Spotlight Cinemas adds to foreign film lineup this spring

Spotlight Cinemas in Orono will be showing more art and foreign films more often this spring.

Citing the positive response of patrons to previous screenings and their suggestions for other films, Spotlight manager Ronald Charette said, “There was such a demand for it, and some really good films were available.”

Previously Spotlight showed art and foreign films for eight-week periods that coincided with the fall and spring semesters at the University of Maine. This spring, the theater will show those films for 18 weeks, from the first week in January to the last week in May.

In addition to two screenings of each film Wednesday and Thursday evenings, the theater is adding a 5 p.m. Sunday screening for people who have been unable to catch the shows in the middle of the week. Charette said attendance the first two Sundays was good.

Admission for art and foreign films is $3.
