Mental health group receives USDA loan

DOVER-FOXCROFT — U.S. Rep. John Baldacci announced Monday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a low interest loan of $275,000 for Penquis Mental Health Association.

The loan is expected to be financed over 40 years at a rate of 4.875 percent.

The funds, being made available through the USDA’s Rural Development agency, will be used to benefit people with mental illness.

“I am pleased that the Department of Agriculture will be lending support to this effort,” Baldacci said. These funds will undoubtedly improve the quality of life for many individuals.”

The loan will enable Penquis Mental Health Association to construct a residential and day facility in Dover-Foxcroft for people with disabilities. There will also be daytime counselors to work with those in need of mental health services.
