Workers’ comp talk scheduled> Madawaska breakfast to highlight business interests

MADAWASKA — Workers’ Compensation will be the topic of a special Eggs-n-Issues Breakfast on Thursday. The breakfast, sponsored by the Greater Madawaska Chamber of Commerce, begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Gateway Motel.

The featured speaker will be Lee Cyr of the Maine Workers’ Compensation Coordinating Council, a group formed in 1993 to represent the interests of the Maine business community concerning workers’ compensation. The MWCCC serves in an advisory capacity to the state Workers’ Compensation Board.

Cyr serves as manager of the claims department. She also is responsible for legislative and regulatory affairs at Hanover Insurance of Maine.

Discussion at the Eggs-n-Issues Breakfast will focus on what happened with workers’ compensation in the 1997 legislative session and pending legislation.
