Over the past couple of months the Bangor Daily News has published a number of articles and editorials on agriculture in Maine. Not only have thse pieces been timely and informative, but more importantly, they illustrate the importance of agriculture to our health and Maine’s economy. As you pointed out, agriculture is a billion-dollar industry that employs 12,000 people. We must do all we can, not only to preserve our farms and farmers, but to support them so that they have the opportunity to stay in business.
I would like to thank all the farmers who provide us with the food we need to live. Keep up the good work! I hope the BDN continues to keep us informed about the current status of agriculture in Maine. Ted Carter Woodland
