B&A railroad car slides off track at Hermon

HERMON — Ice caused an empty Bangor and Aroostook rail car to slide off the track at 4 a.m. Monday. No injuries resulted and little damage was done to the car.

“It was more of an annoyance than anything else,” said Ben Coes, director of external affairs for Iron Road Railways, the parent company of Bangor and Aroostook Railroad Co. A mobile crane likely would have the car back on the track that afternoon, he said.

Coes said the train was going “very slowly” because the engineer was positioning the cars.
