As a pet owner I am appalled about the pathetic sentence that was given to Patricia Thompson. The fact that the sentence is being appealed is laughable. Four days in jail and that weak fine is not even close to what she deserves for basically killing her German shepard, Major.
Being “ill” is no excuse for leaving a dog out side in the harsh Maine winters. We are all aware that our winters are infamous for their sub-zero temperatures and many feet of snow. Animals need more attention, care and food during this time of year.
Four days in jail is not good enough. She should have gotten the maximum sentence for her role in Major’s death. If she loved him as much as she says, than she wouldn’t have left him outside in the middle of January, without food, and let him freeze to the ground. Was she completely unaware of what she was doing to her dog, or did she not care? Either way, she should have received a steaper sentence.
Animals need more care during the winter. Please take care of them and what happened to Major will not happen to your beloved animals. They will appreciate it. Rae-Ann Armstrong Bangor
