WLBZ seeks nominations for ’98 Jefferson Awards

BANGOR — WLBZ Channel 2 is seeking nominations for the 1998 Jefferson Awards. The awards, created by the American Institute for Public Service in Washington, D.C., are designed to honor the highest ideals and achievements in public service in the United States. The TV station is sponsoring the awards in the category of Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Local Communities.

Nominees may be volunteers or paid professionals who go beyond the call of duty to help others in their community and state. They may give their time and talent to help a school, a health care facility, a nonprofit group or other community cause.

The deadline is Jan. 30. For nomination forms and more information, call 942-4821 or 1-800-244-6306 during regular business hours. In Feburary a panel of judges will choose five winners. They will be honored in a reception and featured by the news station in March.
