PORTLAND — Gannett Co. Inc. announced Monday it has completed its acquisition of WCSH-TV, Portland, and WLBZ-TV, Bangor.
Gannett, based in Arlington, Va., agreed in October to purchase the two Maine Broadcasting System stations. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Gannett is the nation’s leading newspaper group, with 88 daily newspapers, including USA Today. With its newest acqusitions, it owns and operates 20 television stations.
The Maine Broadcasting System had owned radio and TV stations in Maine for more than 70 years. In announcing the purchase, Gannett said it planned no major changes at the NBC affiliates in Portland and Bangor.
