SKOWHEGAN — A bail hearing at Skowhegan District Court for accused murderer Guy E. Hunnewell III was indefinitely postponed Monday.
Hunnewell’s attorney, John Alsop of Norridgewock, said he was just not ready to go forward, with Hunnewell’s arrest occurring only six days ago, with a holiday and a weekend in between.
Hunnewell, 27, of Fairfield, is currently being held without bail at Somerset County Jail in Skowhegan, charged with the murder last week of his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Gilliland, 20, of Benton.
Hunnewell’s first appearance in court was last Wednesday, when Alsop was appointed to represent him, and Assistant Attorney General Lisa Marchesi said the state would block any attempt at bail.
Hunnewell is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at his Fairfield apartment either late Monday or early Tuesday morning, Dec. 29 or 30. Gilliland was found in Hunnewell’s apartment Tuesday afternoon, dressed only in her underwear, with at least 15 stab wounds.
Gilliland and Hunnewell both worked at Sonny’s Pizza on Main Street in Fairfield.
