Coast Guard tows hunters safely to Southeast Harbor

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a call from three duck hunters who became stranded in the Deer Island Thorofare Saturday after- noon.

Christopher B. Rowe, a BM2 with Base Southwest Harbor, said the men radioed the base to report their outboard motor had seized up. The group paddled over to Eastern Mark Island before the Coast Guard arrived, Rowe said.

The Coast Guard towed the boat back to Southeast Harbor in Deer Isle where the three began their trip, Rowe said.
