Aroostook County Fund seeks community improvement ideas

ELLSWORTH — The Maine Community Foundation’s Aroostook County Fund is seeking innovative proposals from nonprofit and public organizations that support community improvement. The next deadline for submitting proposals is Jan. 15, with grants to be awarded in late March.

The Aroostook County Fund Advisory Committee awards grants for innovative proposals that support community improvement and help build a healthy, integrated community that controls its destiny over time.

Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 are available to nonprofit organizations that fit the goals. The fund supports demonstration projects rather than requests for continuing support in the belief that a small, successful project can inspire other communities.

Based in Ellsworth, the Maine Community Foundation’s mission is to strengthen Maine communities by building charitable endowments, maximizing benefits to donors making effective grants, and providing leadership to address community needs.
