Telecommunications use by disabled on agenda

AUGUSTA — A legislative commission studying the use of teletypewriters and other telecommunications equipment for disabled people will hold a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the State House, Room 134.

Topics will include the use and distribution of equipment for the disabled in Maine; financing TTY and other communications equipment; compliance requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; and funding expansion of the program, including distribution of additional equipment.

The public is invited to attend the hearing and make comments. Interpreters will be available, and the hearing room is accessible to the handicapped.
