ALFRED — A South Berwick man pleaded guilty Friday to charges he tried to rape a 13-year-old girl last summer.
James Larsen, 35, entered his plea in York County Superior Court. He was accused of attempted murder, attempted gross sexual assault, aggravated assault and burglary.
Authorities said he broke into the girl’s house, tried to rape her and stabbed her in the stomach with a 6-inch knife.
Investigators said the girl’s brother heard her scream and confronted Larsen.
Larsen ran away, but turned himself in because he thought he killed the girl.
He will be sentenced next month.
