DOT wants comment on Freedom bridge fate

FREEDOM — The Maine Department of Transportation wants to develop preliminary plans for the future removal or replacement of the Upper Bridge over Sandy Stream in Freedom. Before it begins the engineering work needed for the project, the Department wants to hear from area residents.

DOT Project Manager Ron Rideout said DOT representatives will be at the Freedom Town Office at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, to listen to comments and answer questions from anyone with an interest in the project. “We’ll be especially interested in hearing local views regarding the consistency of the project with local comprehensive planning efforts, identifying local resources, and hearing local concerns and issues,” he said.

Rideout notes that anyone with an interest in the project is invited to attend and participate in the meeting.
