Brownville teen injured in snowmobile accident

BROWNVILLE — A 17-year-old boy suffered a minor leg injury Friday afternoon when the snowmobile he was driving was struck by a car on Route 11 in front of The Casual Moose restaurant, according to police. The driver of the car was not hurt.

The Brownville boy, whom police did not identify, apparently was trying to cross Route 11 to reach a snowmobile trail when his sled was hit by a southbound car driven by Billie Lamarre, 33, also of Brownville.

Brownville police Officer Gary Cook said the boy jumped off his sled just before Lamarre’s car hit him, saving him from more serious injury. The teen-ager complained of soreness and was taken by his guardian, who was called to the scene, to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft for further evaluation.
