Cause sought for fire at Bar Harbor home

BAR HARBOR — Investigators Tuesday looked for the cause of a fire that destroyed a family’s home here the night before.

The fire at the home of Kevin Codraro in a wooded area off Norway Drive was reported around 6 p.m. Monday, said Fire Chief David Rand. Finding the wood frame home engulfed in flames, firefighters first determined that no one was home. The Codraros reportedly were at Sugarloaf at the time.

Rand said that although icy roads on the way to the home slowed down response time, the house would have been lost anyway. He said he believed the home was insured, and that the family of three stayed with relatives Monday night.

Other departments responding to the blaze were Trenton, Somesville and Seal Harbor. The state Fire Marshal’s Office inspected the site on Tuesday.
