AUGUSTA — The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment will again offer grant awards totaling $50,000 to nonprofit organizations in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick this year.
To be eligible for a grant, the nonprofit group must submit a proposal addressing one or more of the council’s goals of marine awareness and conservation. Requests for proposals can be obtained from the Maine State Planning Office and are due Aug. 22.
Past grants have ranged in size from $1,000 to $10,000. Each recipient organization matches 50 percent of the grant with its own funds.
