WEST BATH — A Whitefield boy pleaded guilty Tuesday to fatally shooting his 13-year-old sister in the head with a shotgun.
Bryn Goodman, 14, will be held at the Maine Youth Center in South Portland until he turns 21.
Goodman pleaded guilty in West Bath District Court to the juvenile equivalent of murder for the Nov. 13 killing of Ciji Goodman in their family’s mobile home, said David Lauren, spokesman for the attorney general’s office.
The youths’ parents were not at home when the shooting occurred shortly before the teens were supposed to leave for school.
Before his sentencing, Goodman tearfully admitted he and his sister had argued after he woke her up for school. In a fit of rage, Goodman kicked in the door of the family’s gun cabinet and grabbed a 12-gauge shotgun.
Goodman said he’d never kill again and looked forward to going to the youth center to help him deal with his crime.
The boy’s mother, Kathy Mansfield, also testified at her son’s sentencing.
