Alert neighbors’ action helps save Bradford home from fire

BRADFORD — An alert neighbor can be credited for stopping the spread of a fire from a rear shed to a home. Firefighters received a call Sunday morning from neighbors of Warren Boucher, who lives on LaGrange Road, reporting smoke from the back of the house.

Boucher arrived home from a quick trip to Bangor to find his driveway full of firetrucks from Bradford, Charleston and Hudson, and a water pumper working on the edge of his small, front-yard pond.

Boucher said that there was nothing of any significant value in the shed, apart from a couple of lawn mowers, and that the shed itself was a fairly old and makeshift structure. He said the fire may have been started by the fuel cans that were kept in the shed.

Noticeable was an old cord that ran from the rear of the house to the shed that Boucher said provided electricity.

The fire reduced the shed to blackened rubble.
